BERKELEY HONORS A PATHFINDER
A footpath in the Berkeley hills was
renamed Saturday in honor of Anne
Brower, wife of noted environmentalist David
Brower. The path, currently known as the Twin Path, winds
past the house where the couple lived for roughly five decades.
David Brower died two years ago.
Anne died several months ago, said Berkeley
council member Betty Olds, who spearheaded the drive to rename
the path.
Anne Brower was vital to much of David
Brower's successful environmental work, Olds said. She also worked
at UC Berkeley, and often used the path to walk to campus.
The dedication was held Saturday at
11 a.m. at the path entrance, located on Stevenson Avenue near
the intersection with Miller Ave., just below Grizzly Peak Boulevard.
